About Us
Welcome to the UW AFSA Tax Clinic! We’re a student-run Tax Clinic under the Accounting & Finance Student Association (AFSA) Internal Services division.
Our earliest records date back to 2009, when we were a small group of students who wanted to help out our community.
We started as a small operation, operating for two or three days in the SLC’s Multipurpose Room (maximum capacity of probably 50 people, it was a tight fit!).
Over the years, we’ve grown into a team of over 150 students who help file taxes for over 1,000 residents of the KW and UW community every year.
Our longest serving volunteer has been with us since 2013!
Our volunteers consist of many returning alumni, many of whom have become successful in their careers.
Our management team consists of:
- Current students from the School of Accounting & Finance programs
- A student doing their PhD with a focus in Taxation
- Several CPAs
- Former senior managers from the Big 4 accounting firms
- A CFA Charterholder
- A CFP Certificant
- Some individuals who have placed on the Honour Roll for the CFE
- And one Ontario Gold Medalist on the CFE!
